A BASSETLAW Council sub-committee is to launch an independent review into the future services at the district’s hospital.
A dozen councillors will set up public meetings so residents can have their say on the future of Bassetlaw Hospital.
The review will take place between July and September, overlapping Bassetlaw Primary Care Trust’s three-month public consultation.
Coun Griff Wynne, chair of the overview and scrutiny committee conducting the review, said the results will be handed to the PCT with a view of aiding their final decisions.
“We felt we needed to have an open and transparent review of the situation,” he said. “We are hoping to reach the wider public. We want to see what people feel would be beneficial to the hospital.”
He added the review would be “impartial”, with no political swing.
No-one from Bassetlaw PCT was available for comment.
