County Council elections take place on May 4
County Council elections take place on May 4

Elections for all 66 county councillors in Nottinghamshire will take place on Thursday, May 4.

Here at Bassetlaw Council we are gearing up for these as we will administer the elections for the nine county council seats –referred to as divisions - in Bassetlaw.

Following a recent boundary review nearly all the divisions have changed in either name or size across the county.

The maps for the Bassetlaw division boundaries are available to view online at www.nottinghamshire.gov.uk/media/113797/bassetlaw-ed.pdf

Bassetlaw residents who aren’t yet registered to vote have until midnight on Thursday, April 13 to do so.

The quickest way to do this is to visit www.gov.uk/register-to-vote and it should only take about five minutes.

You will need your National Insurance number.

If you are already registered to vote and you would like a postal vote, you have until 5pm on Tuesday, April 18 to apply for one.

You can do this by getting an application form the council’s website – just search for Elections 2017 – or by contacting our elections team on 01909 533252.

For residents who are already registered to vote, you should have received your poll card or postal poll card through the post.

Behind the scenes there will be lots of activity as we get ready for polling day when we will be running 111 polling stations across the district.

These are open from 7am until 10pm.

The ballot papers will be counted the following day from 10am, with the results available on both the Nottinghamshire County Council and Bassetlaw Council websites as they come in.

Stepping away from the world of elections, next week is the start of the schools Easter holidays in Nottinghamshire.

If you are looking for something to do with the kids this Easter, then why not pay a visit to Bassetlaw Museum.

There are lots of free activities over the next two weeks, including Lego Days, a 1940s themed Easter Sweet Treat Hunt as well Dig for Victory and Rockin’ Rabbits!
