THORESBY Colliery Band’s chances of qualifying for the national finals at the Royal Albert Hall looked in doubt before two volunteers came to the rescue.
With just two weeks to go until the Finals of the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain emergency surgery left one of their ranks unable to play.
But their prayers were answered when trumpet player Matt Pope heard of the band’s plight and agreed to help out. Cornet player Kate Johnson volunteered to take on the challenge of playing the missing horn part.
The band will compete in the Midlands Regional Championships on 11th March at the Bedworth Civic Hall. For more details visit www.thoresbyband.co.uk.
