It has also been a good week for Pupil Power.

Outwood Academy Portland has just been rated as ‘Outstanding’ in its latest Ofsted inspection.

For any school to achieve this accolade is fantastic, but when you put this into the context of Portland’s troubled history, it is even more remarkable.

It is hard to believe that just four years ago the school was placed in ‘special measures’ by Ofsted.

Praise has to go to Dr Phillip Smith and his staff who have spearheaded this remarkable turnaround in fortunes.

But this could not have been achieved without the efforts of the students whose hard work has seen them achieve their full potential and pull the school out of the mire.
