Worksop: Men jailed for attempted robbery at pawnbrokers

Three men have been jailed for the attempted raid on a Worksop pawnbrokers in broad daylight.

Steven Smith, Paul Manning and Neil Booth failed in the attempted robbery at H&T Pawnbrokers on Bridge Street in June, last year.

The three men had previously pleased guilty to attempted robbery and were sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court on Thursday last week.

Manning, 35, of Rosedale Road, Doncaster, was jailed for four years and four months and Smith, 31, of no fixed address, for three years.

Booth, 46, of Lowlands Close, Doncaster, was jailed for three years for his part in the Worksop offence, and a further nine years for an aggravated burglary in South Yorkshire.

Following the sentencing, a spokesman for H&T Pawnbrokers said: “It’s good news that the police have been successful in this case.”

“H&T works in co-operation with the police at all times in and it just goes to show that this approach really does work.”
