A CRESWELL man who stole almost £300 worth of computer games intended to sell them and buy booze, a court heard.
A security guard at Tesco in Clowne saw a man who appeared to be drunk acting suspiciously on 29th April.
He watched Tony Baker, 58, walk out without paying for items placed in a bag and stopped him. Eleven games, still bearing security tags, were recovered.
“He said he went in intending to steal the games and he would have sold them to obtain cash,” prosecutor Helen Griffiths told magistrates at Chesterfield.
Baker, of Duke Street, Creswell, admitted theft.
Sentence was adjourned until 23rd May for probation service reports.
