A FRAUDSTER who falsely claimed more than £5,000 in housing benefits and council tax has been fined £265.
Graham Booker, 50, from Keswick Road, took on a full-time position without notifying Bassetlaw Council of the change in circumstances between April 2009 and August 2010.
Worksop Magistrates’ Court heard how his wife, who accompanied him to court, had also taken on part-time work “to make ends meet”.
Andrew Osborne, defending, said: “When interviewed, he made full and frank admissions.”
Booker continues to pay weekly contributions to write off the combined £5,702.12 sum.
Chair of the Bench Alan Burkwood said: “I had considered a community penalty.”
