A Worksop Town flag flutters in the breeze in the civic square, as the leader of Bassetlaw Council and the Worksop Guardian announced their support for the club.

Tigers need to raise £100,000 through their #Team500 Club membership scheme in order to safeguard the future of the world’s fourth oldest club.

Coun Simon Greaves, Guardian editor Ben Green and Tigers boss Mark Shaw raised the flag, before expressing their hope that the people of Worksop will back the football club.

Local firms and individuals are sought for the membership programme, with a £200 donation paying for a season ticket and a number of membership benefits.

Members will get discounts at local stores and their names will be included in the ‘roll of honour’ in the Worksop Guardian.

The Guardian and Greaves, along with over 40 others, have already joined the 500 Club.
