COMMUNITY: Parkinson's UK

The Bassetlaw branch continues to expand and welcomed 3 new members at the May meeting.Tracy Simmons from Parkgate Mobility gave an interesting talk on 'Aids to Daily Living'.

On May 7, members joined together with the Cardiac Support Group to enjoy a wonderful performance of “Anything Goes” by Retford Light operatic Society. Everyone was spellbound by the performance and look forward to the next production. Such outings as this demonstrates that there is a social life to be enjoyed with a long term health condition. The aim of the branch is to expand the work that they do to ensure that all people with Parkinson’s disease in the area know about the friendship and support that is available. The hardest part of joining the branch is to come through the door for the first time but a warm and friendly welcome awaits. The Spring outing is a trip to Liverpool on June 22. There are a few seats still available on the coach for friends or family wishing to join the trip. The next meeting takes place on Tuesday, June 7, at 2pm at Worksop Cricket Club, when an afternoon of friendship and fun is planned with Andy Airey giving an amusing presentation of “Poetry and Monologues”.
