With live performances of music from Hollywood blockbusters Star Wars and Pirates of the Caribbean, classical composers such as Tchaikovsky and Elgar, and a World War One song medley, there’s something here for everyone.

This concert is also unique in that it includes the world premiere of Shirebrook – A Living Heritage, a live soundtrack composed by Halle bass player Bea Schirmer, together with students from Shirebrook Academy and Shirebrook Miners Welfare Brass Band, all of whom will perform with the orchestra as they accompany a new film made by Absolute Video about the historic village.

This will form the climax of a concert featuring a range of exciting orchestral pieces which illustrate the wide-ranging repertoire of the Halle.

Bolsover Council cabinet member for social inclusion, Coun Ann Syrett said “We’re thrilled to have such a prestigious event taking place in Bolsover and even more so that the Hallé will be performing with students from the Shirebrook Academy Wind Band and the Shirebrook Miners Welfare Brass Band.”

“It’s going to be a truly special evening to all that attend.”

The event will be taking place at the Shirebrook Academy next Wednesday (16th July) and tickets priced £3 (£2 concessions) are available from the Academy or by calling 01246 242424.
