A WORKSOP father has turned his hobby into a dream business.

Tom Rudderham opened TJ Cycles at Plantation Hill and is seeing his business go from strength to strength

“It’s something I really enjoy doing. I used to work at Halfords as a mechanic,” said the 31-year-old.

“When I was at Halfords I did have a lot of people coming just for me to fix the bike. It was the next step to own my own shop. I’ve got a good customer base.”

“There is a big call for it. With petrol prices going up people are turning to bikes for their shorter journeys to work and things.”

Tom was a mechanic on a ride across Britain which heightened his passion for mending bikes.

“It was absolutely fantastic. When you do something like that you can’t go back to work.”

“You work on £56,000 bikes and then to go back to mending one worth £25. It’s high end bikes that I want to specialise in.”

“There is no-one who does quality maintenance for someone who rides a lot.”

After several months setting up the business and getting the premises ready, Tom can now live out his dream and build a thriving business.
