Saundby wind farm meeting
Local news
A COMMUNITY drop-in surgery will be held in Beckingham to update residents on the progress of a wind energy investigation near Saundby and Gainsborough.
A spokesman said that investigations so far suggest the site, which is owned by the Environment Agency, has the potential to host six turbines, with a generating capacity of 2.5 megawatts each.
This could generate around 33 gigawatt hours of green electricity every year, powering 7,200 homes.
Regional manager Jo Fleming, from developer Partnerships for Renewables said: “Following our last public event in May we have continued a number of technical and environmental investigations on site and these ongoing studies will help address the various questions and comments raised by local residents.”
“The community surgery is another opportunity for interested residents and local businesses to talk to our team and learn more about the project and how it is progressing.”
She added: “It’s also a valuable opportunity for us to gather feedback and views on the project to feed into our consultation process.”
Partnerships for Renewables has recently installed a temporary 70 metre high wind monitoring mast on the site to gather accurate wind data and help to establish the best design for the development.
Area manager at the Environment Agency Mark Haslam added: “Generating renewable energy will play a key part in helping us produce sustainable energy for future generations. We see this as an opportunity to do our bit to help the UK tackle climate change.”
The community surgery will be held on Wednesday 19th October from 3pm to 7pm at the Recreation Room, The Green, Beckingham,
