Have your say

Our beef at the moment is the theft of meat from shops.

Fresh food is expensive enough without shop theft driving up prices further.

We suspect the culprits are stealing meat to then resell in the community.

If you are approached to buy meat from someone other than a registered retailer, report it.

Not only is this a crime, it is also unsafe.

There are strict health and safety regulations governing the sale of fresh food.

When you buy from a dodgy source you can’t be sure if the meat has been properly refrigerated or is within its expiry date.

Is a few quid off the retail price worth risking the health of yourself and your family?

In other news, we’ve been keen to take a gander at those popping in to pick up an application pack to be one of 150 new PC recruits to the Force.

Not since 2010 have we accepted external applicants to the Force, and we can’t wait to welcome some potential new cops to the West Bassetlaw family.

You will be hard-pressed to find a job as fulfilling and varied as being a police officer.

You just don’t know what you will face when you arrive for each shift.

As with most jobs, there is an element of frustration in the role, but it is more than made up for by the times you make a clear difference in someone’s life.
