Three women have died in a three vehicle collision that took place in Tickhill Road just outside Maltby colliery.

Three women have died after a three vehicle horror crash near Maltby Colliery.

The collision occurred at around 5.30pm yesterday evening, when the three women were travelling in a red Toyota Aygo along Tickhill Road in the direction of Maltby.

At the same time, a man driving a black Ford Focus was travelling in the opposite direction on Tickhill Road, away from Maltby and towards Tickhill.

Close to the entrance with Maltby colliery, the two cars and a van, believed to have been leaving the colliery, were involved in a crash.

The female driver of the Aygo, aged 58-years-old, and the two female passengers in the car, aged66 and 76, all died.

The driver of the Focus, aged 28-years-old, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The male driver of the van was not injured.
