CHILDREN, staff and volunteers at Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice are urging families to pull on their wellies and take part in their Big Wellie Walk at Clumber Park next month.

The autumn stroll on Sunday 16th September is perfect for little legs so it’s a great family day out taking in the beautiful scenery at Clumber Park.

All you need is a pair of wellies. They can be a gardening pair, a walking to school pair, or even a festival pair, the brighter the better, you can even decorate your own.

Bluebell Wood have had some of their wellies signed by the cast of ITV’s Emmerdale especially for the event.

The walk promises to be a great way to brush away the cobwebs while raising money for some local children with a shortened life expectancy at the same time.

Sarah Champion, chief executive of Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice said: “We would love everyone to come and take part in this great outdoor event which will raise money for the hospice.”

“It costs £3 million every year to provide the services to care for local children with a shortened life expectancy and their families, and we receive no statutory Government funding.”

“It is only with help and support from the community with events such as this that we can continue to serve as many children as we do.”

The Bluebell Wood care team provide support to over 150 children and their families in South Yorkshire, North Derbyshire, North Notts and North West Lincolnshire. And his number is growing with new referrals every week.

The hospice offers 24 hour care to children on a one to one basis. It also allows families to stay with us to have a break, often the first one they may have had in years.

Tickets for the walk are £10 for adults, £5 for children or £24 for a family ticket (2 adults and 3 children).

The price includes free parking at Clumber Park on the day, and a free T-shirt. Get yours by calling 01909 517 362, or at www.bluebellwood.org/wellie-walk
