A different Christmas shopping experience in Nottinghamshire

With Christmas markets and crafts on all over the county we have rounded up the best places to go to this weekend For 12 and 13 December, to pick up something you would not find on the High Street.

For a day out with the family and a chance to get some shopping done, head over to Nottingham Castle where entry is free on Saturday and Sunday.

The 17th century Ducal mansion was built on the site of the original Medieval Castle and over the weekend you can visit the Christmas gift fair and meet Santa in the Bastion (£3 per child) between 10am and 3.30pm.

At the Ruddington Framework Knitters’ Museum there will be a Victorian Christmas Extravaganza on Saturday, December 12 rom 10.00 – 5.00 pm. tep back in time and explore this magical Victorian setting Demonstrators will also be on hand to bring the crafts of framework knitting to life and visitors are welcome to have a go on the circular knitting machine Santa will be in attendance to welcome children to his grotto with gifts for all however booking is essential. The museum’s Textile Emporium will be offering a wide range of Christmas gifts for all ages and budgets.

The Becket Community Association will be holding its Christmas Market doors open on Saturday, December 12 at 11am until 2pm and entrance is 50p or free for under 10’s. All of the proceeds from our Christmas Market go towards the Access to Experience fund which helps those families in financial need, especially at Christmastime. If that wasn’t enough students perform their modern take on famous classic Scrooge for just £1 per person in the drama studio.

Also on Saturday will be the Farndon Boathouse Christmas Market, North End, Farndon, Newark with handcrafted gifts, individual boutiques, a barbecue with festive music and Santa’s grotto.

On Sunday, December 13 make the most of the weekend and head out to Newark Christmas Market between noon and 7pm where there will be festive street entertainment, crafts, seasonal food and funfair rides.
