WORKSOP based hardware giant Wilkinson has announced it could be cutting up to 1,500 high street jobs in the new year.
A spokesman for the discount chain, whose head office is based at Worksop's Manton Wood, has said they are doing everything they can to limit the number of redundancies – including a recruitment freeze.

Staff at more than 300 stores nationally have been briefed about the possible changes.

The spokesman stressed the cuts are not down to a drop in profit but are instead the result of testing a new system which reduces the time needed to replenish shelves with stock.
