AN IMPRESSIVE line-up of Porsches outside a Barnby Moor hotel marked 50 years since the venue played host to drivers from the Monte Carlo Rally.
The car park at Ye Olde Bell Hotel was an imposing sight on Sunday evening as over 20 Porsche owners arrived to celebrate the anniversary of the 1959 rally.

Fifty years ago, the hotel was the only British checkpoint for the rally, which saw drivers start out in Glasgow and head down the A1 to Dover.

The Independent Porsche Enthusiasts Club (TIPEC) for North Notts and South Yorkshire regularly meet at the four-star hotel.

Member Ray Waite, who helped co-ordinate the event, was thrilled to see so many Porsche owners come along.

"We regularly get together to go for drives and talk about Porsche and share our experiences," he said.

"TIPEC is a national club and we are a regional group. It's not just for people who own Porsches but for people who are passionate about them."

Sadie Levack - daughter of hotel owner Paul Levack - also brought her Carrera S 911 Porsche along to the event.

"It can be quite a male-dominated world and there are not that many women who drive Porsche cars. I really like driving and it is a fabulous car," she said.
