Siege man is charged

A 46-YEAR-OLD Maltby man has appeared in court facing charges relating to a two-day police siege in Carlton.
The man was arrested after armed officers sealed off Windsor Gardens for 34 hours after the man barricaded himself in a house.

He was charged with harassment and aggravated burglary with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, after the incident on Sunday 27th and Monday 28th April.

Tony Evernden, 46, of King Avenue, Maltby, appeared at Worksop Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 30th April.

He has not entered a plea and was remanded in custody.

Evernden will appear at Nottingham Crown Court on 6th August.
