SHIREOAKS teenagers could have a new place to chill out in the evenings if plans for a youth club get off the ground.
More than 10 teenagers from the village met with county councillors, police community support officers, and parish councillors at a meeting last week.

“It is on the agenda for the next parish council meeting,” said Coun Ivor Jones.

“It is in the very early planning stages but we said we would like to have something set up by September this year.”

“The young people need a place to get together and it seems they’re keen on the idea.”

The need for a youth club was highlighted when parents complained that teenagers had been gathering in intimidating groups at the play park.
