A NORTH Anston woman, who spent years suffering from a distressing condition known as fibromyalgia, is now helping others with the same problems.
Veronica Clixby, 67, of Cartmel Walk, experienced aches, fatigue and debilitating pain for years – before the condition was eventually diagnosed by Bassetlaw Hospital.
"It is a debilitating, distressing condition and many people go for long period
s of time before they are diagnosed," she said. "I just didn't feel like living anymore."
"At first, doctors would tell me it was just depression. When I read about fibromyalgia, my symptoms just seemed to fit with everything."
In 2007, a rheumatologist confirmed her self-diagnosis, and she now runs a support group. Anyone who would like to join can ring 01909 565037.
