I can't believe a book re; guilt is coming out before a trial even begins. It makes one think this man is being set up.

I found Mr. Robinson's article a bit elitist. Suggesting somehow that the British system of justice is better than the US's system. I would say to this that Mr. Entwistle has and continues to receive a very good defense all paid for by the citizen's of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Mr. Entwistle has been held so long because his lawyers keep delaying the start of this trial, just like they tried to do yesterday. This is not the first sensational trial that has ever happened nor will it be the last. I firmly believe that a jury will be found that will keep an open mind. The facts of this case will not change no matter where it is tried. Mr. Entwistle found his wife and daughter dead, fled to the UK, and didn't attend his wife and baby's funeral. I feel bad for his parents too, for they are as much a victim as Rachel's parents are. One has to wonder if they will be attending their son's trial, or whether they already know whether he committed this horrendous and evil act.

I have heard he was not even allowed to the funeral...so why on earth would that be held against him? AND it doesn't matter how you want to put it, the public is being told he is guilty through media and a book - All in time for jury to be affected. There is no 'innocent until proven guilty' in this case.

JFA, just because someone took it upon themselves to write a book before the trial (which has happened many times before now) doesn't make the whole system irrelevant. How could anyone finding their wife and child shot to death, not make any calls to the police or emergency workers? Neil fled the scene and notified no one. He left his wife and child to lay dead in the bed only to be found by police days later. Any caring husband wouldn't have done the things he did and a caring and distraught husband certainly would have insisted on being with Rachel's family in their combined and shared grief. If Rachel's family didn't want him at the funeral, it was because of his actions which one would have to agree seemed very odd. Seems to me that you're the one judging and preconceiving the "public" in MA. Let's agree to disagree and give Neil his day in court.

But how many of us have found our wife and child shot dead? How can you be so sure how you'd react to such a horrific discovery? I don't think I know how'd I'd react in such a situation. But I guess in such circumstances logic could well go out the window. I think it's important to keep an open mind.

Oggmonster) I agree with an open mind. No-one knows what he was thinking or has heard him speak. And the trial hasn't happened yet. Let's hope there is a fair trial.

There has been a lot of coverage of Neil Entwiste before his trial is to begin on Monday. I am trying not to prejudge him before I get all the facts.
Judging from what I have been reading about him on the internet, magazines, newpapers, etc, I personally believe he merely snapped. He had a wife and kid to take care of but no job. I am not sure who's idea it was for the family to move to America. If Rachel Entwistle wanted to move back home because she was homesick, she should have settled for Summer vacation visits with her folks. Or her family could have had Christmas in England. They should not have counted on Neil getting a job in America the second his foot hit the ground. (I do not mean I think she and the baby deserved to die) If Neil had a job in England then that is where they should have stayed. We already have lots of people in his occupation over here.(Folks in Computer related occupations are a dime a dozen now.) They should have considered that. The American dream can turn into the American nightmare that you can't wake up from if you had not done your research first before moving here We have lots of Americans living the nightmare- not the dream. A lot of the things it is reported that Neil had been doing both before and after the murders seems like the actions of a very stressed person to me. I wish the best outcome for all.

I feel that far too much has been printed in the American/UK press pre trial with is going to make it very hard for the jury to try and put this aside and made a decision based on facts!
As Oggmonster has said how many of us have been in that same situation?? until you are actually faced with such an awful thing you really cant say how you would react!

For some reason I'm having difficulty with passwords and have to get new ones issued. But, we'll see how this works.
To Cuz - I agree with you and that is a concern. I still hope somehow this can be a fair trial. From having followed it closely, the prosecution may have blasted out their theories, but the defense has a lot to work with and hopefully the jury can be fair in it all.

There is something wrong when unidentified DNA on the alleged murder weapon is not pursued.
