STUDENTS from North Notts College took to the streets to demonstrate against the National Blood Service's decision to ban gay men from giving blood.
The National Students Union organised this and other demonstrations that are being carried out across the country on various dates.

And on Thursday, students from the Carlton Road college walked through town to the Masonic Hall raising awareness of their plight and also encouraging more people to donate blood on their behalf.

"We believe that the decision to stop gay and bisexual men from donating blood is archaic," said Student Union president Ian Campbell.

"We don't understand the decision as all blood is screened anyway. We just hope that demonstrating today will bring about change and allow us to help others through blood donation."
