Clowne's Heritage School pupils were also celebrating today, when they eagerly ripped open their result envelopes.
Year 8 pupil Adam Goucher, 13, showed he is wiser than his years when he picked up an A* grade in statistics - just a week after achieving an AS in pure maths.
Adam also got an A* grade GCSE in maths last year - and said that he could not believe his eyes when he opened his results on Thursday morning.
"I am delighted, I hoped to get an A, but I was surprised to find out I had achieved an A* - it is a real shock to the system," said Adam, of Gray Street, Clowne.
And Gaynor Davis, 16, of Coronation Street, Whitwell, was over the moon to find out she had received ten A to C grade GCSEs.
"I am so pleased, this is exactly what I wanted and I am really relieved - I will be celebrating this weekend with a family party," said Gaynor, who will now go on to study four A-levels at Chesterfield College.
Relief and joy also came to 16-year-old pupil Thomas Lancashire this week, when he discovered that two years of determination had paid off.
"I am really happy with my results, it was a lot of hard work and so many exams. I think me and my friends will be organising a party," said Thomas, who gained eight A to C GCSEs.
And it was not just the pupils who were celebrating their results this week - Heritage library assistant Emma Pellow achieved a A* grade GCSE in sociology.
"I love learning, which is why I work in a school. It is easy to expect the kids to do the work, so I decided to take the plunge and do it myself. I am ecstatic that all the hard work has now paid off," said Emma.
Headteacher Don Spencer said that this year's GCSE results showed that almost 100 per cent of students achieved success, with an increased number getting at least five passes.
"The school continues to improve at a fast rate and this is a culmination of the hard work of the staff, the hard work of the students and the support of the parents," said Mr Spencer.
"We will have to say goodbye to a number of fantastic pupils and I wish them the very best for the future."
