A good way to banish the winter blues is a fun night at the pantomime, and Worksop Light Operatic Society has just the show for you.

The society’s performance of Cinderella runs for five nights at Worksop Regal Theatre from Tuesday 11th January until Saturday 15th January and we’ve got a family ticket to give away.

The classic fairy tale has been re-written as a hilarious pantomime full of fun, music, dancing and romance.

Written by David Taylor, who also stars as one of the Not So Pretty Sisters, this pantomime is full of local references and topical jokes.

The pantomime is a long running tradition in Worksop, with Worksop Light Operatic Society putting on performances for more than 20 years.

This year, David Taylor’s adaptation contains everyone’s favourite parts of the Cinderella story with a few new twists.

“There are jokes for the adults as well as the children,” said society secretary Janet Marshall.

“We have a cast of around 45 this year, ranging from a seven-year-old to people in their 70s.”

Janet continued: “The members have all been brilliant. Despite the terrible weather rehearsals have continued to make sure that we bring you a great pantomime.”

“We hope to see good audiences to make all our hard work worthwhile.”

The show also features the young dancers from the Donna Pressley Dance Academy who will add a touch of magic to the occasion.

Cinderella will be staged at the Regal Theatre, part of the Regal Arts Centre on Carlton Road.

Performances are at 7pm on Tuesday 11th, Wednesday 12th, Thursday 13th and Friday 14th January.

The performance on Saturday 15th January starts at 7.15pm.

Tickets are £9 for adults and £7.50 concessions, with tickets for the opening night on Tuesday priced at £7.

To book, call the Society box office on 07827 388484.

We also have a family ticket - admitting four people - available for any night of your choice.
