The Vagina Monologues was billed as the ultimate girl’s night out - and it was certainly that.

The Broadway and West End smash, written by Eve Ensler, was at the Lyceum Theatre in Sheffield for one night only, and what a night it was.

It featured an all-star cast of Waterloo Road actress Hayley Tamaddon, Clare Buckfield of Dancing on Ice fame and Vicky Entwistle, who played the much loved Janice Battersby,

The set was very basic and non-theatrical, just three high stools on a sparse stage. But it didn’t need anything else because it is ultimately about the stories which are based on interviews with women from around the world.

I found myself laughing one minute and sitting in silence the next along with an audience packed full of women - and a few brave men,

From child birth to sex, it is a totally x-rated show covering every aspect of womanhood, including tough subjects such as rape and child abuse.

The comic timing of all three actresses were superb.

Vicky Entwistle and Claire Buckfield have been in the show for a while and it was clearly evident. They rarely glanced at their prompt cards and delivered brilliant impersonations. Hayley Tamaddon relied on the cards a little more, but more than made up for it with her humours lines and amusing facial expressions.

Vagina Monologues is an unmissable show for women of every age.

Be prepared to laugh, cry and blush - the perfect girls night out!
