Taken around the 1900s, this photo shows Mr Thomas Gaskell (bottom left), surrounded by his eight children as they pose for their family photo.
Mr Gaskell was the transport manager of Worksop and Retford Brewery Company which started in business in 1881 and was situated on the canal side at the end of Dock Road in Worksop. The brewery was the result of two already existing firms, one being Smith and Nephew, the nephew being Mr William Allen who became well-known locally for owning pubs around the town. Mr Gaskell was the first person to drive a car in Worksop as he chauffeured Mr Allen around.
Pictured are: Tom, Wilf, Beatrice, Edward (Ted), Joe, Florence, Winifred and Nellie.
