Mozart comedy opera comes to Nottingham's Theatre Royal
THERE is comedy in the collision of cultures as a fantasy opera by Mozart arrives in Nottingham next week.
The Abduction From The Seraglio explores tensions and misunderstandings that arise, and in particular those between east and west.
Conducted by Rory Macdonald, the story revolves around a beautiful woman called Konstanze, played by Kate Valentine.
She and her maid and servant are caputured, and her lover, Belmonte, seeks to rescue her. Meanwhile her captor, Pasha Selim, also falls for her.
The three-hour show is sung in English and directed by Tim Hopkins, with costumes designed by Gideon Davey and lighting by Zerlina Hughes.
Performances take place at the Theatre Royal on Tuesday 16th and Friday 19th June at 7.15pm. Tickets prices range from 14.50 to 54, and are available from 0115 989 5555.
