Look inside Theatre Royal

CURIOUS theatre-goers are being offered the chance to have a look behind the scenes at Nottingham's Theatre Royal.

The venue is hosting an open day this Saturday 26th July to which all are invited to see the new production of Robin of Sherwood, which is showing there until Saturday 2nd August.

Free to attend, the event will have a Medieval feel and guests can take part in a range of activities including backstage tours, face painting and competitions.

“The whole day will be filled with Medieval mirth, music, merriment and mayhem,” said Ezekial Bone, Theatre Royal tour guide.

”This is an amazing opportunity to fly the flag for Robin Hood at Nottingham’s historic Theatre Royal.”

And theatre’s education manager David Longford says he thinks it will be the best open day yet.

“Every space in the Theatre Royal will be utilised as we have so much on offer for people to enjoy,” he said.

”There will be lots of exciting things to see and do throughout the day, and all ages are welcome.”

During the day there will be foyer and street performances, a band of wandering minstrels, a jester, puppeteers, dragons and damsels in distress, staged sword fights and a troupe of merry outlaws performing for the crowd.

Extracts from the new production of Horrible Histories Nottingham will also be read on the Upper Circle foyer, as well as a Sherwood Forest information stand available with forest rangers.

The theatre’s caf and restaurant will be open from 10am.

Bookings for the restaurant should be made in advance on 0115 989 5569 or royalcentre-exec@lindleycatering.co.uk
