All aboard for production of The Railway Children story

IT IS full steam ahead for Worksop's Acorn Theatre as one of the nation's all-time favourite stories makes a stop off next Saturday (13th).

A stage version of E Nesbit’s classic novel The Railway Children is bound to attract young and old audiences alike.

Image Musical Theatre retell the tale of three youngsters who, in the midst of family drama, fall in love with a railway and make friends with those who work there.

After their daddy is taken away, the children and their mother are forced to fall back on their own recources to survive. They have to leave London for a small house in the north country.

Many adventures follow, but the mystery of their father’s disappearance remains.

The first act is a light-hearted rehearsal workshop for the whole audience, where the cast introduce themselves and then pick a dozen children from the audience to join in and learn the choruses from the songs.

After an interval, they are all able to take part as rehearsed in the 60-minute show.
