Why didn’t anyone warn me that Christmas telly was going to be so sad?

I sat down for Call the Midwife, ready for some heartwarming festive fare, and what did I get?

An abandoned baby and an old lady whose five children had died in the workhouse.

I spent most of the programme sobbing into my snowball.

Then the small boy and his puppy in the new animation The Snowman and the Snowdog were left bereft after the snowman melted.

Even The Royle Family brought a tear to the eye when Jim bought a new wedding ring for Barb. Bring back Morecambe and Wise.
