I’m writing this in that strange limbo time between Christmas and New Year, when life is half-heartedly getting back to normal.

Although the sight of hordes of shoppers pushing and shoving their way into the Boxing Day sales could hardly be considered normal behaviour.

What on earth possesses people to get up at the crack of dawn on a day off to rush out and buy yet more stuff?

It would take more than the promise of a half-price jumper to get me queueing to go shopping the day after Christmas.
