VISITORS to The Crossing will have the opportunity to experience the talents of two young musicians from the Royal Northern College of Music.
Pianist Michael Davies and violinist Sophie Cameron are both studying Masters at RNCM and are already making a significant impression on the concert platform.
Welshman Davies showed an early interest in music and started taking piano lessons at the age of 10, with private tutors before being offered a place at the Junior Department of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in September 2000.
He studied piano with Nicola Meecham and composition with Daniel Jones and achieved success in both disciplines, resulting in invitations to perform at the Wales Millennium Centre, the House of Commons in London, and in Germany.
An active chamber musician, Michael performs annually in the RNCM Chamber Music Festival, and with the Cameron Piano Trio in the Lake District, Manchester, Hull, and London. In 2009 he won the John Barbirolli Prize with Irish cellist Paul Grennan.
Virtuoso violinist Sophie Cameron is a regular music prize winner and a past member of the Albion Quartet.
The Royal Northern College of Music’s Michael Davies and Sophie Cameron will be performing at The Crossing, on Newcastle Street, on Saturday 9th July at 7.30pm. Doors open 6.45pm. Ticket prices are £10, concessions £9, children and students £4.
