We have had two serious incidents in Manton over the last couple of weeks that may have reached your radars.

A 17-year-old boy was arrested and bailed, pending further enquiries, at the weekend following an altercation at a party in Netherton Road.

A 24-year-old man received a stab wound in the incident, at around 9.45pm on Saturday (10 November 2012).

After a short stint at King’s Mill Hospital he has been discharged and is expected to make a full recovery.

Crime is down in south Worksop and we do believe this was an isolated incident, but in a bid to provide reassurance we have stepped up patrols in the area.

If you were at the party, or saw the incident, please call us.

Carrying a weapon whether you feel it is for your own protection or not, means you are asking for trouble. Don’t put yourself in that position. Knives ruin lives.

The other incident may sound like something from the latest Bond movie, but it is far from entertaining.

There was a reported incident on Sunday evening (11 November 2012) in which a green laser was shone into the eyes of a helicopter pilot over Manton.

‘Skyfall’ suddenly has a whole new meaning. Spy games this is not.

Those who are under the misguided impression that shining a laser pen at an aircraft is nothing more than a prank, think again.

Your actions could have potentially catastrophic consequences not just for those on board the aircraft, but for those on the ground below them.

You are recklessly endangering life and this is a very serious criminal offence. Those convicted of such an offence can face a maximum penalty of five years in prison. If someone dies as a result of your actions, you could face much longer behind bars.

Most culprits have been traced through on-board cameras and GPS, but if you suspect someone of doing this call us immediately before someone is seriously hurt or even killed.
