CELEBRITY chef Aldo Zilli has brought the taste of the Mediterranean to the area with the opening of his Zilli Cafe at Center Parcs’ Sherwood Forest holiday village.
The £300,000 development, which can seat about 100 diners and guests, joins Center Parcs’ existing Zilli Cafes -- the first being launched at Longleat Forest in Wiltshire in 2009, followed by Elveden Forest, Suffolk, in May last year. The company hope to complete the quality quartet at their Whinfell Forest site in Cumbria in the near future.
Aldo left his London base to join in the official opening at Edwinstowe where the Zilli Cafe concept has replaced the existing Conservatory Cafe in the Aqua Sana, allowing visitors to the spa to choose from a mouth-watering selection of fresh and healthy dishes, including fresh salads and pasta specialities, from a menu designed by Aldo specifically for Center Parcs.
The menu also includes lobster ravioli, foccacia filled with goat’s cheese, grilled vegetables and an exotic range of Mediterranean salads plus Aldo’s must-have tiramisu. There is also a small deli section from which Center Parcs’ guests can purchase the finest authentic ingredients to cook in their accommodation. A range of smoothies and herbal infusions complement the health food on offer or else indulge in a glass of Prosecco.
Welcoming the concept to guests attending the Sherwood Forest launch, Center Parcs’ chief executive Martin Dalby said: “We are thrilled to be working with such a highly respected chef as Aldo. We know that Zilli Café has been a huge hit with our guests at Longleat Forest and Elveden Forest and I am sure that it will be at Sherwood Forest, too.
“Over the past four years we have invested a huge amount of money in our restaurants and bars at Center Parcs and the introduction of Zilli Café confirms our commitment to providing our guests a high quality range of dining experiences.”
Aldo, who has signed a three-year franchise agreement with Center Parcs, added: “My first visit to Center Parcs was with my family and I was really blown away by the experience. It was an extremely well organised and sophisticated holiday and I particularly loved my trips to the spas. I’m thrilled to be providing a healthy Mediterranean diet for everyone visiting the spas.”
