Why the hell do schools have 'inset days' in term time?

GET THIS – the kids were off at Valley School last Friday... because of an 'inset day'.

Remember, this is the school that's just had a shocking Ofsted report, so you'd think they'd be stepping up the learning a bit... not giving the kids another day off!

Inset days, half-term, whole weeks off for a single Bank Holiday... why on earth can't these 'inset days' be incorporated into one of these endless long breaks?

No wonder our education system is churning out such low-grade students – they're never at school being taught!

School days ought to run from 8am until 6pm, with just one hour for lunch, 48 weeks a year.

We'd then (a) get some properly-educated teenagers (b) see teachers doing an honest day's work for the first time in their lives and (c) free up the rush hour traffic of 'school run' mums.

I rest my case.
