THE LINDRICK Players have chosen a play-within-a-play for their latest production in Carlton, and promise to forget their lines, miss their cues and descend into chaos.
Performing as the ladies of the Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townswomen’s Guild Dramatic Society, they will present ‘The Haunted Through Lounge and Recessed Dining Nook at Farndale Castle play.

Players spokesman Sarah Hemsall said performing such a multi-layered production is no mean feat, adding the cast had spent many months getting under the skin of the Farndale Ladies.

”When the cast are performing as the creepy characters of Farndale Castle, they have to remember they are the Farndale ladies playing the characters, not just their own interpretation,” she said.

”And so, in this play, Farndale’s most tragic actresses and their harassed producer create a complete spectacle of themselves in their spooky tale of a haunted castle!”

The Farndale Society, created by David McGillivray and Walter Zerlin Jr, is a comically incapable, fictional amateur theatre company who, despite their total inability to perform anything well, have attempted to stage and turn their hand to a murder mystery.

There are a few new faces to be seen as well this time as Linda Foy takes on her first part in a play as incompetent Felicity, along with Conor Pollard. Angela Foster will be covering a total of five characters, while new member James Harrison appears as the producer.

Alongside them will be Helen Stephenson as the indomitable Mrs Reece, Pat Shepherd as prima donna Thelma and Sarah Hemsall as Austrian Lottie.

And as a special treat for the audience, the annual Farndale Laureate will be chosen from the three finalists in the Poetry Reading competition – a most moving experience guaranteed.

Tickets for the 7.30pm show, which runs from Thursday 11th to Saturday 13th June, are priced £5.50 for adults, £4 for concessions if pre-booked, and £6.50 and £4.50 if bought on the night.
