COMIC chaos comes from Worksop's Light Operatic Society's latest production, Me and My Girl, which is coming to The Circle for a five-night run from Tuesday 13th May.
With a host of hilarious characters, witty one-liners and several toe-tapping songs, Me and My Girl could have something for you.

The play centres around Lambeth costermonger Bill Snibson who is revealed as the new Earl of Hereford – horrifying his newly-discovered aristocratic relations.

Bringing him to Hartford Hall, they attempt to educate him.

Kirstie Probert said: ”With a full professional orchestra, and a strong set of principals and a fully staged production, this show is sure to be an ideal evening out for the whole family.”

This version of the show, with its revised book by Stephen Fry, was first presented at Leicester’s Haymarket Theatre in 1985, starring Robert Lindsay and Emma Thompson.

The show runs from the 13th – 17th May at The Circle.

Tickets are priced £8 adults, £7 concessions and can be purchased from the box office from now. Alternatively, call 01909 474458.

The society is also looking to appoint a director and musical director for the next pantomime, to be performed in January 2009.

Kirstie said the ideal candidate would bring life to the stage.

”The director will have the artistic vision for the show, will run the audition process, acting rehearsals and supervise the smooth transition of the rehearsals into a full work of theatre,” she said.

“And the musical director will be responsible for coaching singers, teaching songs, running warm-ups, and recruiting and rehearsing a band. Our ideal candidate would be an inspirational and lively musician with a background in conducting and development to a high musical standard.”

Rehearsals are on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 7.30pm.

Anyone interested in applying for either of these positions should contact the chairman on 01909 724357.
