Scam from abroad?

I have just been reading your article on the recent computer scam that’s been doing the rounds.

I was targeted about two weeks ago. Received a call from a gentleman with a strong foreign accent saying that my IP address has been hacked and asked if I was near my pc. I said that I had only just got out of bed (it was very early one morning which made me think he was calling from abroad) and that I didn’t have my pc on.

He persisted and said I needed to sort this problem out, when I refused he became agitated and I asked for his number to call him back, the line then went dead and I’m assuming he’d hung up.

I then called Sky, my internet provider, and they said many people had called them regarding this scam.
