PCSOs waste of money
I’m writing this letter in regards to the Guardian article about tax hikes funding more police for the area, and I have already found a problem with it.
According to the article, the tax increase is negligible and nothing to really complain about. The problem is with how many police they offer.
100 front-line officers, 56 PCSOs and additional support staff across Nottinghamshire. They should not offer more PCSOs. In fact, for the price of the 56 PCSOs they could have an additional 20 to 30 front-line officers. Come on, PCSOs are pretty much useless. You get more use out of a store mannequin. PCSOs have next to no authority. They simply walk round dressed halfway like a front-line officer taking notes here and there, and talking to the public. But when anything important happens, they can do nothing unless a front-line officer who is on-site tells them they can do something.
So what I’m saying is, in this bargain, I don’t think anyone would really complain about a slight tax Increase to support the police, just as long as it’s not spent on useless things like PCSOs. In fact, get rid of all the current PCSOs, and you can probably get another 100 front-line officers.
