Let Worksop be the first

Many towns like Worksop have the same problem, the town centres are dying.

The blame is put on the supermarkets on the edge of town. Rubbish! The problem in Worksop is that we are followers.

Just for a change let’s try being leaders. Let Worksop be the first to get rid of those idiotic speed bumps and chicanes, let us be the first to sack all the councillors and county councillors who think they are value for money. Let us be the first to replace the belisha beacons, they are outdated and dangerous. Let us be the first to cut down all the Give Way signs and weigh them in for scrap.

Looking up at a sign takes your eyes off the road. Let us be the first to acknowledge that all motorists are not stupid. Let us be the first to have a free car park in the town centre, the revenue lost in the car parks will be recovered by the extra business attracted to the area. Let us be the first to un-pedestrianise the town centre. What is the point of having an area free of traffic so that people can safely walk about looking at boarded up shop windows!
