Getting it off my chest. . .

i’ve three quirks to get off my chest in this week’s Guardian news.

OAPs deserve much better

our MP votes for benefit rises in the House of Commons helping to create a ‘something for nothing’ culture and spending money we don’t have.

Scam from abroad?

I have just been reading your article on the recent computer scam that’s been doing the rounds.

Let Worksop be the first

Many towns like Worksop have the same problem, the town centres are dying.

Call not from Microsoft

I have not been caught by the scam (I think) but someone did ring me about four weeks ago and said they were from Microsoft and my PC would crash within 24 hours if they did not repair it.

More police on the streets . . .

I was looking in the Worksop Guardian this week where I read the piece about people paying more tax to see more policemen.

Demise of unused railway line

i notice that Network Rail are currently lifting all the tracks from the disused branch line that runs from Creswell to Clowne and onto Poolsbrook Country Park near Staveley (approximately seven miles).

PCSOs waste of money

I’m writing this letter in regards to the Guardian article about tax hikes funding more police for the area, and I have already found a problem with it.

Police behaviour won’t be tolerated

I recently wrote a letter to the Police Complaints Department regarding the programme Coppers and the language and behaviour that was shown.

Thanks for poppy support

ONCE again I must thank the people of Worksop and the surrounding areas.

Sort the heating out!

on behalf of the pensioners living in the bungalows on High Hoe Road, Bracebridge Avenue and Bracebridge, would Bernard Coleman the A1 Housing Managing Director and Don Spittlehouse another director, please put the ground source and air source heating right!

Well done to you both

I have caught the 7.32am Stagecoach number 77 Clowne to Worksop bus every weekday morning for the past eight years.

Good neighbours

my wife and I would like to say a big thank you to our neighbours who came and cleared the snow on Sunday. It’s nice to know that help is not far away, as the song goes ‘Every body needs good neighbours’. Thank you.

In Memory of Bill Johnson

i THINK we owe it to the memory of Bill Johnson to make sure his achievements and memory are properly recorded.

No houses are needed

MY dad says we don’t need more houses.

CAB will be on the move

I refer to Mr Mann’s Mann of the People article of the 20th January concerning the campaign for a new bus station.

Explore all avenues call

In response to your article in the Worksop Guardian 27th January, I find the site allocation for potential new housing, meeting the demands of developers for greater land banks of prime open space land. Thereby removing significant areas of natural beauty. Whether there is a need for 6,000 new houses is always debatable and based on projections plucked from thin air.

Conservatives have done a lot

I eagerly await our Labour Council’s budget proposals for this financial year.

Build staion on car park

I wish to show my support for a new bus station in Worksop.

Homes concern for Gateford

I attended the public meeting on 24th January, I got there at 6.15pm, 15 minutes before the start. The meeting was in the big hall where just over 200 chairs were set out.

Issues with Coppers

WITH reference to Coppers on 16th and 23rd January, I have to say I’ve never seen such a disgraceful show about the police.

Reply to MP

I decided to wait a week before responding to John Mann demanding a new bus station, and I’m glad I did.

It’s old news

It was interesting to see local petrol prices make your front page news. It is rather an old story though, at least as far as I’m concerned! I have been buying my petrol from the two filling stations on the A57 in South Anston and occasionally from Morrisons at Crystal Peaks for well over a year. Both are nearly always 2p and sometimes 3p per litre cheaper than any in Worksop.

Lions thanks

THE Lions Club of Worksop would like to thank the people of Worksop and surrounding district for their generosity towards our sleigh in December 2011.

Mavis search

i AM searching for a relative called Maureen Bagnell (I do not know her married name).

We’re being ripped off!

Travelling around on Sunday 29th January, I noticed that in Rotherham, the diesel was 137.7p/l at Asda on the A630 (Mushroom Roundabout).

Bus station before cinema

Worksop bus station (or lack of) is a complete disgrace.

We want new bus station

We are writing in with our support for a new bus station for Worksop.

We welcome campaign

Bassetlaw Lib Dems welcome the local MP, John Mann, joining our campaign for a new bus station for Worksop. We only ask what has taken him so long?

Help for sufferers from dementia

LIKE many people who are suffering from one form of dementia or another, I read with interest any article that appears about this dreaded disease that affects so many people and their carers.

Worksop does not want disabled

WITH regards to your un-named reader whose letter appeared in the Worksop Guardian on November 11th 2011 about Worksop market. Have they ever heard of Retford where Bassetlaw Council spent thousands refurbishing the market square recently?

Poppy thanks

Once again I must thank the people of Worksop and the surrounding areas. The Three Cadet Forces, Worksop College, The Masonic Lodge, (Worksop), the clubs, pubs, supermarkets and little shops as well as Mr J. Ruggles who stands alone selling and my own loyal band of helpers who not only sell poppies in supermarkets but also distribute and collect during and after the poppy appeal.

Petrol ASDA be cheaper

In response to recent letters on the variance in fuel prices between Worksop and Mansfield, the answer is simple, and can be explained in just one word - ASDA!

Short but to the point!

Why can a new bus station not be built on the Queen street car park?
