Ivy May Staley : Obituary
STALEY Ivy May MRS I. M. STALEY (of Creswell) Creswell resident, Mrs Ivy May Staley, of Churchfields, has passed away at Bassetlaw Hospital after a sudden illness, aged 89. She leaves her daughter Betty. Born in Whalley Common where she had lived for 20 years, Ivy was educated at Langwith and spent the last 69 years of her life residing in Creswell. Initially in service at Chesterfield she then took on a milk round in Langwith delivering milk by horse and cart. Ivy worked as a welder at Barringes in Mansfield until 1942 and for a short time at Broughs in Creswell as well as devoting her time as a housewife and mother. In her early years, she loved sewing, embroidery and making peg rugs. She also took pleasure from baking, preserving fruit and gardening where she grew her own vegetables. The funeral took place at Creswell Church on 19th January 2012 and was conducted by Rev Amanda Pike. This was followed by cremation at Brimington Crematorium, Chesterfield and afterwards at Creswell Cemetery.
