A COUPLE were almost caught in the firing line when their cruise ship was attacked by Somalian pirates.
Globetrotting pair Douglas James, of Blyth, and Pat Manuel, of Carlton, spoke out this week about hearing gunfire from their cabin as a group of bandits tried to board their ship.

The ship was travelling from Durban in South Africa to Genoa, Italy, and the pirates pounced at about midnight on 25th April after it had left Port Victoria in the Seychelles.
